Day 209: Capetown

 

But now: Chapman's Peak Drive again (limited to a height of 3.00 m and a width of 2.10 m from south to north). Great road, great views!

And then Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. We visited it eight years ago and were very impressed. And we're going again.

How lucky that the proteas, South Africa's national plant, are in bloom right now. We walk back and forth through the vast area, admiring giant trees, enjoying the fragrant plants (especially Muir's sage and Rub Hagelkraal buchu), learning a little about the fynbos, and...

People are having picnics, dancing, singing, taking photos, sitting on benches.

If only it weren't for the cold wind :-(

When we get back to the car after almost five hours, someone has decorated Becky with autumn leaves. Nice.
